Andrea was born on 4th April 1972 and completed her first 7 years of primary education at Jindalee State School in Queensland. It was there that she developed her passion for music and performance. She learnt recorder, piano, flute and singing and soon found herself in the school band from the ripe old age of 7.
Living with 5 older brothers and a sister, she quickly learnt how to "speak up" so as to be heard above the hustle and bustle of a busy family. Although when she was 10, however, she did ask to be "dadopted" because her family were "naughty to her".
Feeling the need to express her creativity more and wishing to follow in her big brother Peter's footsteps, her acting debut was at the Arts Theatre where she played one of the three magical dogs in a production of "The Tinderbox".
Enjoying the limelight, her parents enrolled her in many drama and singing classes where she could let off some creative steam.
In 1985, Andrea moved with her family to Tasmania where she entered Rose Bay High School and soon found her place in the band as a lead singer. Not happy enough with touring Tasmania with her High School Band, she joined a local Christian Rock Band, Delta, and gigged around Hobart for a year when she was 15. Andrea describes that year as one of the best years of her life, making new friends, performing and living life to the full.
In 1988, Andrea went to Rosny Matriculation College and after a fall out with her Year 11 Music Teacher; who clearly knew nothing about music (according to a 16 year old, hormonal school girl); her mother "suggested" she leave her Creative Arts Course and head out into the "real" world.
1991, she wanted to do something for other people and entered herself into the Miss Australia Quest. Sponsored by the Savings and Loans Bank of Tasmania, she managed to raise over $10,000 for the Spastics Association.
After losing her creative outlets of High School, Andrea soon became a serial Karaoke offender, performing every Friday and Saturday nights at Maloney's Hotel in Hobart. Every week, she would win a prize, which quickly stocked her parent's cellar with cheap bottles of Spumante Champagne. She has since heard that it came in handy when cleaning her Father's golf clubs 1995, Andrea moved to Melbourne to have her first son, Jacob, followed 3 years later by her second, Harrison. Firmly grounded by her wonderful additions, Andrea worked in many areas of Administration, working her way from Reception, to Office Manager, Bookkeeper and then 2IC to the Director of a Telecommunications Company.
Music and performance now a distant memory, in 2006, Andrea officially opened her first business as a Virtual Assistant, quickly finding clients from a wide range of industries; from film and tv to a sporting legend, from public speakers to psychologists and everything in between.
After a successful year of business, she soon realised that she was so far from her passion for music that she decided she needed to surround herself with this again and applied for a role in a Music School.
Now the Music School Administrator at an all girls school, she is surrounded by passionate musicians and aspiring performers and feels she is "home" again.
Andrea and Luke: The Musical is Andrea's debut performance after hanging up her microphone 20 years ago and she is both nervous and excited.
Andrea says "I know it's going to be a wonderful musical extravaganza, but at the end of the day, Luke and I are getting married and will live happily ever after. together, forever; no matter whatever!"
